Spanish GP Weekend Schedule: When does the race start?

The Formula 1 2022 season continues this weekend as we head back to the familiar surroundings of the Circuit de Catalunya for the Spanish Grand Prix.

After a great deal of glitz and glamour in Miami last time out for the inaugural race there, F1 heads back more to its roots for the next few weeks as the European season continues.

Indeed, the track, just north of Barcelona, has been on the calendar since the early 90s and it’s a circuit the entire paddock knows well.

When does each session take place this weekend in Spain, then? We take a look now…

Friday

There are two practice sessions on Friday – which will be crucial as the drivers get to grips ahead of the race weekend.

FP1 takes place at 1pm UK time and lasts for an hour, whilst FP2 is pencilled in for 4pm UK time, also for an hour.

Saturday

Saturday sees another final practice session, held at 12pm UK time for another hour, before the all-important qualifying session takes place later on in the afternoon at 3pm – that should last an hour too unless there are any red flags.

Sunday

The Grand Prix gets underway at 2pm UK time, with 66 laps of the circuit scheduled.

It’s the sixth race of the potentially 23-Grand Prix long season and it’ll be interesting to see which teams have made the most progress since testing at the same track back in February.
