Southern Counties East Premier Division side Lordswood are reviewing all options as they seek a new manager

Southern Counties East side Lordswood say they have been overwhelmed by interest for the management vacancy at the club.

Matt Barman made the surprise decision to quit the SCEFL Premier Division side on December 1 and since then the club have been inundated with possible replacements.

Director of football Jason Lillis said: “We have been overwhelmed by the interest wanting the position.

“We are currently reviewing all options as we want to get the right management team in because it has to be the right fit for our players and club philosophy.

“We would hope to make announcement as soon as possible.”

Saturday’s game at Stansfeld was off due to a waterlogged pitch, with the club announcing the arrival of right-back Callum Emptage prior to the weekend,

Lordswood were beaten 4-0 by Whitstable in the first game following Barman’s resignation, which was followed by the departure of young assistant Joe Denny.

Since then defender Rahman Kareem has left for Faversham.

Lordswood play at home to Lydd Town on Tuesday night.

This season, under a new ownership structure, Lordswood have been keen to promote the youth and that is something the club are keen to continue going forward.

In a statement last week, they said: “We are an ambitious football club and have high expectations of our management team and players.

“We are looking for a first team manager and coaching team who are passionate, committed and highly motivated to work within our club philosophy to build on progressing our young talented squad and to take the club forward.

“Our youth section is a critical part of our club and the Manager, and their coaching team will be required to work with our youth section coordinator to provide pathways for all our players.”

Barman,
