Southern Counties East League round-up: Whitstable Town go five points clear, nine-man Larkfield & New Hythe lose at Phoenix Sports, Bearsted up to third
Premier Division leaders Whitstable Town stretched their lead to five points at the weekend.
The Oystermen won 2-0 at lowly Chislehurst Glebe thanks to a second-half double from young striker Jack Nelson.
Second-place Larkfield & New Hythe finished with nine men in their 4-0 defeat at in-form Phoenix Sports.
Lyle Della-Verde and Paul Lee put the home side in charge at the break before Jahmahl King and Nathan Daly were both dismissed inside four second-half minutes.
Two goals in stoppage time from Will Efambe wrapped up the points for Phoenix.
Bearsted moved above Rushall into third place after beating them 2-1.
Richard Jimoh scored twice in as many minutes on the stroke of half-time for the Bears before Louie Clarke pulled a goal back just past the hour mark.
A stoppage-time winner from Wayne Bushell was finally enough for Punjab United to see off a resilient Faversham Strike Force outfit, 3-2.
Punjab twice led through Chris Edwards and Will Johnson-Cole but Alex Willis equalised both times before Bushell popped up with the winner.
Holmesdale dropped out of the top six after losing 3-2 at Snodland.
The hosts led twice through Matt Self and Chris Alhassan but Lewis Keywood and Malachi Hudson levelled both times. It meant an 85th-minute goal from Charlie Sheringham was enough to take the three points.
Sutton Athletic won 4-0 at Kennington thanks to Ashdon Day, Namory Kane, Billy Muckle and Conor Evans.
Charlie Weston’s goal at the start of the second half proved the difference as Hollands & Blair beat Fisher 1-0 at Star Meadow.
Arguably, the game of the day came at Gay Dawn Farm as Corinthian drew 4-4 with fellow strugglers Stansfeld.
Corinthian twice led but then had to come back from 4-2 down to rescue a point.
