The Premier League title race could be decided tonight as Liverpool takes on Southampton on the South Coast.

Manchester City and their great rivals Liverpool have once again been neck and neck throughout another thrilling season, with the Blues just ahead.

Though Pep Guardiola's side slipped to a 2-2 draw with West Ham on Sunday, the title is still in their hands ahead of the final day and they could even be crowned champions tonight if Liverpool fails to beat the Saints. City have a point advantage at the top but tonight's match is a game in hand for Liverpool and a chance to reduce the gap.

Even if Liverpool are victorious at St. Mary's, City will still only have to hold their nerve and defeat Aston Villa in the final match of the season on Sunday in order to claim their fourth title in five years.

When it comes to jumping that final hurdle, Manchester City are used to their rivals bottling it and handing them the title without them having to kick a ball.

City learned they were champions both last season and in 2018 when Manchester United dropped points on a day Pep Guardiola's side weren't even playing. They had done the hard work before that but didn't have to make that final push themselves.

On Tuesday, if Liverpool lose to Southampton at St Mary's, the same scenario will happen again - City will be crowned champions before they next play. It's a tempting proposition, and one many fans would hope for to avoid any final day nerves, but after such a long campaign it would feel wrong if City don't complete the job themselves this time.
