Southampton opt for change again as Selles set to exit
Ruben Selles will leave his position as Southampton manager at the end of the season.
The Spaniard has been in charge since Nathan Jones was sacked in February, but he was unable to guide Saints away from relegation danger and their drop to the Championship was confirmed last week.
A club statement read: "Southampton Football Club can confirm that it has held conversations with men's first-team manager, Ruben Selles, and decided that his contract will not be renewed when it expires at the end of the season.
"The club wants to place on record its thanks to Ruben for taking on the managerial position at a difficult time for the club and for giving his all as we attempted to stay in the Premier League.
"Ruben will take charge of the team for the final game against Liverpool on Sunday at St Mary's. We wish him all the best for his future career."
Selles said last week that he would only want to stay at the club if he was appointed boss on a permanent basis and did not want to work under any new manager at St Mary's.
Ralph Hasenhuttl was sacked by the Saints in November before Jones departed in September.
A new man will come in for their return to the second tier.
