Russell Martin to Southampton Live: Updates as odds tumble on Nathan Jones taking Swansea City job
It's admittedly dragging on, but Russell Martin's move from Swansea City to Southampton still appears to be on.
Martin is understood to have already agreed to take the job at St Mary's with only compensation and other formalities left to complete.
With the Premier League season now having finished and Ruben Selles officially having taken charge of his last Saints game, there could well be some more meaningful movement over the coming days, and attention will soon turn to Martin's successor.
Former USA head coach Gregg Berhalter is a name understood to have been considered by the Swans hierarchy, which you can read more about here, while John Eustace is another name known to hold some appeal inside the boardroom at SA1.
Former Swansea coach Chris Davies remains the favourite with bookmakers, while ex-Brighton and Watford boss Oscar Garcia has also been mentioned as a possibility.
Interestingly, having seen his name drift from the conversation in recent days, odds on Nathan Jones have shortened dramatically in the last 24 hours, and he is now firmly back in the list of bookies' favourites.
Could that one really happen? Club insiders have already expressed doubts, but he is a figure well known to Paul Watson, whose appointment as sporting director remains in the pipeline.
