Southampton: 'Bigger clubs going to come in for' £38m Saints star

Former Southampton midfielder Carlton Palmer cannot see Tino Livramento asking for a move away from St Mary’s this summer but fears big clubs will come after him.

The 19-year-old has impressed under Ralph Hasenhuttl this season and is now being linked with a switch to Premier League rivals Tottenham.

According to Football Insider, Tottenham have set their sights on signing Livramento in the next transfer window and are already working on a deal to bring him to north London.

The right-back only joined Southampton from Chelsea last summer but has taken the Premier League by storm, making it no surprise that he is attracting interest from a side like Spurs.

“I also think Tino Livramento, when talking about young players, has had an excellent start to the season,” England manager Gareth Southgate said earlier in the campaign when discussing the Saints youngster.

Livramento missed a few games at the start of the year due to a knee injury, but he has still made 27 appearances in all competitions this term, justifying his decision to leave Stamford Bridge for St Mary’s.

On Tottenham’s interest in Livramento, Palmer has told GIVEMESPORT that he does not expect the player to ask for a move this summer, though he believes bigger clubs coming after him is an inevitability at this point.

Speaking to GMS, the ex-Southampton star said: “I don’t see him asking for a move at this moment of time. But if he continues playing the way that he is for the club, there are going to be bigger clubs who are going to come in for him.”
