South Africa and Afghanistan's date with destiny as T20 World Cup semi-final line-up is confirmed

The Proteas and Afghanistan will clash in the first T20 World Cup semi-final in Trinidad and Tobago on Thursday morning (02:30 SA time), while India and England will contest the second knockout in Guyana.

PROTEAS VERDICT | Vanity second best for SA as process wins over gloss ahead of World Cup semi-final

The semi-final line-up was confirmed on Tuesday morning (SA time) after Afghanistan's thrilling win over Bangladesh St Vincent. After scoring a meagre 115/5 in 20 overs, Afghanistan bowled out Bangladesh for 105 in a rain-affected game, securing an 8-run win on the DLS method.

The result also meant that Australia were knocked out of the tournament after earlier losses to Afghanistan and India.

South Africa and Afghanistan will aim to make history as neither nation has contested an ICC World Cup final.
