Shiva Thapa, Lovlina Borgohain in Indian boxing squad for Asian Championships
The selection trials for the continental showpiece slated to take place in Amman, Jordan from October 30 to November 12, were held at NIS Patiala from Thursday to Saturday. The likes of reigning world champion Nikhat Zareen, three-time Asian Championship medallist Amit Panghal and Birmingham Commonwealth Games medallists Rohit Tokas and Sagar Ahlawat skipped the trials. While Zareen has given the tournament a miss to get some much-needed rest, Panghal, Tokas and Ahlawat are nursing injuries, a Boxing Federation of India (BFI) source told PTI.

Pakistan captain Mohammad Hafeez has lashed out at the national selectors for ignoring seasoned allrounder Shoaib Malik for the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia. Igor Stimac set to continue as Indian men's football team head coach till AFC Asian Cup next July
The technical committee, which met here under the chairmanship of legendary striker IM Vijayan, discussed the performance of the Indian men's team under Stimac and recommended to the AIFF executive committee his continuation at the helm of affairs. This will be Stimac's third contract extension after he took charge of the national men's team in May 2019 on a two-year tenure. In 2021, he was given a contract extension of a few months till September of that year.
EPL: Maupay goal earns Everton victory over West Ham
