Virat Kohli Turns Captain, Guides Rohit Sharma And Changes Field During 2nd Test Against Australia

Indian cricket team star batter Virat Kohli turned captain for a bit as he guided skipper Rohit Sharma and set the field during Day 1 of the second Test match against Australia in Adelaide on Friday. Kohli was at his animated best as he tried to break the first-wicket partnership between Marnus Labuschagne and Nathan McSweeney. During the 17th over of the Australia innings, Kohli had a lengthy chat with Rohit and went on to change the field. He also ran from his position at the slips to the bowler Mohammed Siraj to talk to him about strategy as well as the fielding changes.

Lewis Hamilton Fights To Keep Emotions In Check On 'Surreal' Mercedes Farewell

Lewis Hamilton said his final Friday practice with Mercedes had been "very surreal" as he fought to keep his emotions in check after 12 years with the team. The seven-time champion qualified fifth, splitting the Ferraris, at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix where he finished the day with hopes kept alive of a memorable finale in Sunday's race after a dismal outing in Qatar last Sunday.   "It's gone better today," said Hamilton, who will be 40 in January when he joins Ferrari.  "Very surreal! I have tried to be present and to enjoy every moment, arriving with the senior engineers, getting ready in the car and I've really enjoyed it.

"He's Got No Clue": Virat Kohli Brutally Sledges Australia Star In Adelaide Pink Ball Test. Watch

Young Australia opener Nathan McSweeney was on the receiving end of some brutal sledging from none other than Virat Kohli. The incident happened on Day 1 of the 2nd Test in Adelaide on Friday. Kohli approached McSweeney after Jasprit Bumrah beat his inside edge with a peach of a delivery late in the final session of the day. "He's got no clue! He's got no clue, Jass (Bumrah)," Kohli said as his brutal sledge was caugh on the stump mic. A video of the same incident has now gone viral on social media.

"That's A Good Night": Australia Great Gives Rohit Sharma Send-Off From Commentary Box

Rohit Sharma's return to the Indian team didn't go as planned, with the India captain only scoring three runs before being dismissed by Australia's Scott Boland. Rohit returned to the middle order after years of top-notch performances as an opener, primarily because of KL Rahul's superlative show at the top in Perth. However, not much went right for the India skipper who was dismissed LBW by Boland after spending only minutes on the pitch. Rohit's dismissal also prompted a send-off from Australia great Adam Gilchrist who couldn't resist pointing out the Indian captain's flaws while commentating.

England Players Could Boycott Hundred Against RCB's Stance On NOC Policy

A group of "50 leading England cricketers" could boycott next year's Hundred competition to protest the England and Wales Cricket Board's (ECB) overhaul of its NOC policy, which players need to participate in franchise tournaments, according to a report. It was revealed last week that the ECB intended to not issue NOCs for tournaments which have their dates clashing with the English summer, unless the cricketer "is on a white-ball only deal with their county", reported The Telegraph. "This includes the Pakistan Super League, which moves to a slot concurrent to the Indian Premier League (which is controversially exempt from the policy) in April and May next year," the report said.

New Zealand vs England 2nd Test Day 2 Live Score Updates

New Zealand vs England 2nd Test, Day 2 Live Updates: New Zealand lost five wickets to be on the ropes in response to England's 280 after Harry Brook smashed a century on the first day of the second Test on Friday. The Black Caps were 86 for 5 in Wellington, with England capturing the key wicket of Kane Williamson soon before stumps, leaving Tom Blundell at the crease on seven and nightwatchman Will O'Rourke yet to score. It was a fast-moving opening day, in a similar vein to the first Test in Christchurch, which the tourists won by eight wickets in three and a half days. (Live Scorecard)

Pathum Nissanka Leads Strong Sri Lanka Batting Reply Against South Africa

Pathum Nissanka made 89 to lead a strong Sri Lankan batting effort on the second day of the second Test against South Africa at St George's Park on Friday. Sri Lanka were 242 for three at the close in reply to South Africa's first innings of 358. Opening batsman Nissanka seemed set for his third Test century before he charged down the wicket against left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj, missed an attempted big hit and was bowled. Until then, Nissanka's only blemish was a missed chance to David Bedingham at first slip off Kagiso Rabada when the batsman had 22. Nissanka faced 157 balls and hit 11 fours and a six.
