Sources: Liverpool confident of reaching Fulham agreement for eight-figure fee
Liverpool are still confident they will be able to land Fabio Carvalho for £10m and sign him from Fulham permanently, Football League World has been told.
News broke in the final days of the transfer window that the Reds were aiming to bring in Carvalho in the winter market, with his contract at Fulham running into its final six months and it looking as though he would not be signing a renewal.
Indeed, the Reds wanted to agree a fee now and get the deal done rather than let it go to a tribunal in the summer, and they came agonisingly close to completing the move.
Ultimately, they ran out of time to get the agreement for him to join the Reds and then the agreement for him to be loaned back to Craven Cottage for the rest of the season sorted, and so the player remains a Fulham employee for at least the time being.
Football League World has been told, though, that the Reds feel confident that they can still sign Carvalho for £10m.
Neco Williams, meanwhile, ended up going the other way on loan as he looks to earn more game time in the coming months of the campaign than he likely would have at Anfield.
