Sources: Eagles DT Carter out for MNF after procedure on shoulders - ESPN

PHILADELPHIA — Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter is out for Monday night's game against the Los Angeles Chargers after undergoing a procedure this past Monday on both his shoulders, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Thursday.

Carter now is undergoing treatment on both shoulders and will be considered be week to week to return. He wants to be as close to 100% as possible for the playoff run, the sources added.

Carter was not his normally impactful self in last Friday's 24-15 loss to the Chicago Bears — a game in which Philadelphia yielded 281 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. He took responsibility postgame, saying «there were some runs I got drove back or I wasn't making no effect on the play.»

When asked for an explanation, Carter said, «It's my problems to deal with. I ain't gonna tell everybody what I'm going through.»

Carter, 24, has been dealing with shoulder issues for much of the season. He missed the first three practices of training camp with a shoulder injury. He has been in noticeable discomfort at times during the season, including Week 2 against the Kansas City Chiefs when he said he had «a little bit of a stinger.»

«He does have a shoulder issue,» defensive coordinator Vic Fangio said this week. «He has been playing with it. Late in the game, he had a great play with it, but it's definitely something there.»

The ninth overall selection in the 2023 draft, Carter has 107 tackles, 12.5 sacks, four forced fumbles and 12 passes defended in two-plus seasons. He was a member of the NFL's All-Rookie team and earned Pro Bowl honors last season as a key figure for the Super Bowl champion Eagles, who boasted the No. 1 overall defense during the regular season in 2024.
