Aston Villa have seen many players come and go out of the club since their arrival back in the Premier League at the end of the 2018/19 season.

Some of those players have either joined from or moved to other English sides, such as Jack Grealish who joined Manchester City in the previous summer transfer window in a record-breaking deal.

Looking ahead to the upcoming summer window, it seems as though the Midlands club could be looking to move another one of their players out the door, with another English club reportedly waiting in the wings to pounce.

According to a recent transfer report from Football Insider, fellow Premier League side Arsenal have set their sights on making a summer transfer move for Villa defender Ezri Konsa.

According to their sources, Villa boss Steven Gerrard has told Konsa’s agent that he is willing to listen to offers for the centre-back this summer.

The Midlands signed the Englishman back in the 2019 summer transfer from Brentford in a deal worth £12m and it would not be a surprise if the Midlands outfit ended up making a profit on him.

Since then, he’s gone on to make 94 appearances for the Villans across all competitions, chipping in with six goals and two assists along the way.

However, that doesn’t necessarily make selling him a good idea. In fact, it would be a rather puzzling one from Gerrard considering comments just three days ago.

He said: “He’s been outstanding for me, obviously the red card [against Leeds] was frustrating for him and us because he is an important player.

“His level of consistency has been really high, whether that be on the training pitch or in a match situation.

“So I’m delighted to have him back and he was a big factor in the clean sheet last week.”
