Source: Jaguars to sign WR Gabe Davis to 3-year, $39M deal - ESPN

The Jacksonville Jaguars are signing wide receiver Gabe Davis to a three-year, $39 million contract that includes $11 million at signing, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Monday.

Davis, a first-time team captain in 2023, had some big performances in significant games during his four seasons with the Buffalo Bills and was the team's best run blocker at receiver, but he didn't consistently produce.

He caught 45 passes for 746 yards and 7 touchdowns in 2023, but he made it clear after the season that he would explore his options in free agency.

Statistically, Davis, who turns 25 on April 1, put up his best season in 2022 with 836 receiving yards on 48 receptions (93 targets), averaging 17.4 yards per catch. His biggest statistical game came in the 2021 postseason against the Kansas City Chiefs, when he caught eight passes for 201 yards and four touchdowns.

Davis was selected by the Bills in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL draft, and his 17.3 yards per catch average is the highest by any player in the regular reason and playoffs since he was drafted. Getting on the same page with quarterback Josh Allen, especially on throws downfield, was a problem at times, with Davis averaging a team-low 55.6 catch percentage.

«Gabe's a good player in this league,» Bills general manager Brandon Beane said in January. «Whether you want to call him a No. 2 or number whatever you want to call him, he's a good player. He's earned the right… to see where his market is at.»

ESPN's Alaina Getzenberg contributed to this report.
