Sonic is returning to our screens and this time he’s bringing back four huge original games within the Sonic series but revamping them for new consoles.

The package of games was announced by SEGA in May 2021 and will include four major Sonic titles; Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles and Sonic CD.

With the Sonic the Hedgehog film doing so well in cinemas at the moment, this game is set to be released at the perfect time and may very well get some of the new younger generation into playing these absolutely timeless games.

So, with this new title hitting our screens very soon – here’s everything you need to know about Sonic Origins.

Sonic Origins is set to be released on Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox consoles, Steam, and the Epic Game Store all on the 23rd June 2022. The game will only be released as a digital download with no plans for a physical release anytime soon.

With the games all being old Sonic titles, you have a few options in how to play.

You can play the titles in classic mode, with the aspect ratio we experienced in the older titles, or, you can play in anniversary mode – which includes a fully remastered version of each game that runs in widescreen.

Along with this – there are also missions, which award you with coins and the chance to unlock new content. There are new animated shorts, and even remastered versions of the classic tracks.

If you want to pre-order Sonic Origins, you can do so by heading to the Sonic Origins website and picking your platform of choice.

Unfortunately pre-order is unavailable for Nintendo Switch at this point in time.
