Son Heung-min interest justified as Liverpool search for Sadio Mane replacement
If losing the Champions League final to Real Madrid on Saturday night in Paris wasn't bad enough for Liverpool, less than 24 hours later the prospect of Sadio Mane never wearing the iconic red shirt became a realistic one.
Straight away, the attention turns to who is capable of replacing someone who has been so vital to the winning machine Jurgen Klopp has built during his time at Liverpool. Not many can fill the boots of Mane - who has been instrumental in Liverpool winning all there is to be won - but Son Heung-min could be that man.
After the news of Mane wanting to embark on a new challenge broke - possibly in Germany with Bayern Munich - it came to light that Son could have been the subject of a huge bid from Liverpool, but only if Tottenham Hotspur had not qualified for the Champions League.
Son enjoyed his best season to date in the Premier League and took a share of the Golden Boot, alongside Mohamed Salah, with his 23 goals in the season. The South Korean has often been overshadowed by Harry Kane at Tottenham, but not lately. A strange one though, was him missing out of the six-man shortlist for the PFA Player of the Year.
