"Something's holding him back" – Sky Sports reporter drops claim on Spurs ace who "looks scared"

Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge reckons that Ryan Sessegnon looks “scared” playing for Tottenham.

The 21-year-old has started the last two Premier League games but has failed to make a case for himself to become first-choice at left wing-back.

This is the first time in Sessegnon’s Spurs career that he’s getting a run in the side, but it’s quickly becoming obvious as to why he was continuously overlooked by Jose Mourinho.

He’s started five of the last 10 top-flight fixtures, including the games with Manchester City and Burnley.

However, while Sessegnon was involved in Harry Kane’s second goal in the victory at the Etihad, he’s not making the impact that many expected when he joined from Fulham for £25m more than two years ago.

Therefore, it doesn’t come as a great surprise that he’s been Tottenham’s worst-performer this season from players that have started a Premier League game, according to WhoScored.

Against Burnley, Sessegnon made little influence in the final-third, making just one key pass, and completed only one dribble throughout his 78 minutes on the pitch.

His evening was compounded when he gave away a cheap free-kick moments earlier, which allowed Josh Brownhill to pick out Ben Mee, who headed home the winning goal.

With Sessegnon making little effect at both ends of the pitch, Bridge thinks that something is holding the youngster back from performing to the best of his ability.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “To me, he looks scared. I don’t know whether he’s scared about getting injured, but something’s is holding him back. Is it a tactical discipline? I don’t know.”
