Sold-out! Rugby lovers set to flock to Loftus for Bulls, Stormers showdown

"The Streak" has been a talking point since the Stormers beat the Bulls for a seventh successive time at Cape Town Stadium in December, but stadium capacity has elbowed its way into the conversation for Saturday's repeat of the north-south derby at Loftus.

URC Round 11: teams, fixtures and results

With the build-up to the fixture between the country's top United Rugby Championship (URC) teams - the Bulls are third on the table and the Stormers sixth - lasting a whole fortnight, the anticipation has built up to a sold-out Loftus Versfeld for Saturday's match (kick-off is 17.05).

According to the Bulls, the number of souls to be crammed into Loftus will hit 51 000 to witness a fixture which has regained its stature as the premier derby in the country, complete with the backstory of a formerly dominant Bulls side now being subdued by its Western Cape counterparts.

A massive part of the attraction for those going to Loftus on Saturday isn't just a rivalry threatening to add a touch of bad blood to it. It is also the sheer quality of players who will be in attendance despite the fact that so many of South Africa's World Cup-winning Springboks campaign overseas.

Still, though, there is quality in both teams, with the Stormers boasting seven Springboks, five World Cup winners and four new Springbok alignment camp invitees, while the Bulls surprisingly have 11 fully capped Boks, four World Cup winners and two new would-be Springboks.
