Bruno Fernandes exploded in passion as he began to protest. He’d just slotted home in the Manchester derby but the offside flag was up.
The skipper was off, charging to his right, gesturing to the assistant referee that he was onside and the goal should stand regardless of Marcus Rashford and his apparent transgression.
Ultimately the officials, after a VAR check, agreed and the goal stood. Fernandes exploded with delight, screaming into the afternoon air as thousands inside Old Trafford reciprocated. United went on to complete the comeback as Rashford prodded in a winner and City were beaten.

The red half of Manchester will be desperate for a repeat on Saturday under the arch, desperate to crush City’s Treble bid, desperate for a second slice of silverware.
Fernandes will also be fired up. He’s had his critics this season and his antics in the 7-0 thumping at Liverpool prompted plenty of debate about his leadership and ability to rally a side.
"Fernandes’ body language today was nothing short of disgraceful," said former United skipper Roy Keane in the aftermath of the drubbing. But the arm waving and gesturing is how Fernandes is.
"Sometimes I go over the line," he said in an interview last month. "I know that. It can happen in the game and it is difficult to control emotions. I've also been like that since I was seven years old, I don't want to lose my game.
