Sligo Rovers winless streak goes on after Treaty United defeat

Sligo Rovers' wait for a first win of the SSE Airtricity Women's Premier Division goes on after a narrow 2-1 defeat at home to Treaty United on Sunday afternoon.

The Bit O'Red started the game rooted to the bottom of the table with just three points earned from their opening 12 games.

Despite a positive start at The Showgrounds, that familiar sinking feeling would arrive on 38 minutes when Cara Griffin opened the scoring for the Limerick outfit.

A swift counter-attack saw Katie Lawlee burst down the left flank before sending a low cross into Griffin to bundle home from close-range.

Anna Rockett added a second for the visitors on 51 minutes but just eight minutes Keeva Flynn gave Sligo hope as she headed home a free kick from the right.

The win saw Treaty join Shamrock Rovers on 14 points, after the Hoops took a break from league duties this to compete in the Avenir All-Island Cup final, which they lost on penalties to Galway United.
