Sligo Rovers v Galway United off due to safety concerns
The SSE Airtricity Men's Premier Division meeting between Sligo Rovers and Galway United on Saturday night has been postponed due to health and safety concerns brought on by Storm Kathleen.
Galway and Mayo are under an orange weather warning until 6pm, with the rest of the country hit with a yellow warning until 8pm.
The match at The Showgrounds had been due to kick off at 7.45pm but the league has confirmed that it is now off due to health and safety concerns and the risk of travelling.
"The League of Ireland can confirm that tonight's SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division fixture between Sligo Rovers and Galway United has been postponed over health and safety concerns owing to the risk of travelling, flying debris and power outages in the Sligo area amid an Orange Weather Warning issued by Met Eireann," said a statement issued on Saturday afternoon. "We will issue any further information on the new fixture in due course."
A win for Sligo Rovers would have seen them join second-placed Derry City on 15 points in the table, while Galway United could have moved up to third with victory over their Connacht neighbours.
Last month, Bohemians v Dundalk and Shamrock Rovers v Drogheda United were postponed due to heavy snowfall and have since been rearranged for 15 April and 29 April respectively.
