Slaughtneil power to 11th consecutive Derry title after outclassing Kevin Lynch's
Slaughtneil 3-23 Kevin Lynch's 1-09
Slaughtneil won their 11th Derry SHC title on the trot when overwhelming Kevin Lynch's by 20 points in Owenbeg.
The victors set out their intent from the start and were 0-07 to 0-00 to the good by the 20th minute. That had extended to 0-13 to 0-01 come the sound of the half-time whistle. Goals followed on the resumption with dual star Brendan Rogers contributing 3-02, while Cormac Doherty added 0-08 to his side's tally.
Slaughtneil's attacking threat was simply too much for Kevin Lynch's, who had goalkeeper Liam Hinphey to thank for stopping another goalbound effort from Rogers.
Ronan Mullan did find the net for the vanquished, but at that stage the Dungiven outfit trailed by 2-17 to 1-05. Rogers' third goal followed shortly after.
Richie Mullan and Corey O'Reilly also chipped in with scores for Kevin Lynch's side, but Slaughtneil's class was all too apparent on a day when Peter McCullagh, Mark McGuigan, Ruairi O Mianain, Eamon Cassidy, Gerald Bradley, Jack Cassidy and Sean O'Doherty kept the scoreboard ticking over.
Next up for the Derry champs is a date in the Ulster final in six weeks' time.
