Sky Sports pundit shares prediction ahead of Cardiff City’s derby clash with Swansea City

David Prutton believes Cardiff City will take the bragging rights from today’s huge Welsh derby against Swansea City.

Whilst the two clubs have little to play for this season, as neither can realistically reach the play-offs or go down, this is still a huge fixture for both sets of supporters.

And, writing in his regular Sky Sports column, pundit Prutton has gone for a home win for the Bluebirds, who he has backed to edge a close game 2-1.

Steve Morison’s men start as favourites with the bookmakers due to the home advantage and they go into the clash in good form, having picked up ten points from their previous four games before the international break.

Meanwhile, the Swans have managed just five wins in 19 away from home, although two of those have come in the past three outings.

If Russell Martin’s side can pick up the three points in the capital it means they will incredibly become the first side to do the double in this fixture, after winning 3-0 earlier this season when the two met.

The verdict

This is a massive game for the fans of both and the atmosphere is sure to be electric come 3pm as the Cardiff support do their bit to help the team.

With the Bluebirds at home, combined with their fine form, you can understand why Prutton feels they will come through this one, which would of course extend the remarkable statistic of no team doing the double in this fixture.

Either way though, it’s sure to be close and the contrasting styles should make it a very interesting encounter.
