Sky Sports pundit makes honest claim about Derby County midfielder Ravel Morrison
Sky Sports pundit Andy Hinchcliffe has admitted that he believes that Ravel Morrison could potentially play a key role in Derby County’s push for survival if the midfielder builds upon the display he produced against Barnsley last weekend.
Morrison helped his side seal a crucial three points in this particular fixture by netting a brace at Pride Park.
The midfielder opened the scoring for Derby in the 22nd minute as he produced a great piece of skill to lift the ball over Barnsley goalkeeper Brad Collins after being teed up by Luke Plange.
Morrison struck the crossbar with an effort before doubling his side’s advantage in the second-half.
As a result of this triumph, Derby moved above Barnsley in the league standings and are now only five points adrift of Reading.
Whereas the Rams are facing an uphill task to retain their second-tier status for another season, they could put the Royals under a great deal of pressure by picking up positive results in their upcoming clashes with AFC Bournemouth, Blackburn Rovers and Coventry City.
Making reference to Morrison, Hinchcliffe has insisted the midfielder could have a big part to play in Derby’s quest to avoid relegation.
Speaking on the latest episode of the Sky Sports EFL Podcast about the 29-year-old, Hinchcliffe said: “Ravel Morrison, absolutely he has to back this up with performance after performance.
“He has the ability, consistency has always been the key and the players with undoubted ability if they can find that, they can go on to achieve amazing things with consistency.
“But that is the hardest thing to find and yeah, being kind of a one-off scoring these great goals you will be remembered but again, if Derby and teams want to be successful you need everybody pulling
