Sky Sports man hints 'top player' is on 'Orta's list to be recruited' at Leeds

Pundit Paul Robinson believes that Leeds United will have continued interest in Lewis O’Brien in the upcoming transfer window.

There were reports in January that Leeds attempted to bring O’Brien to the Premier League from Championship side Huddersfield Town, but the Terriers stood firm and kept their man as they fought for promotion to the top flight.

Huddersfield narrowly missed out on promotion after they lost 1-0 in the play-off final against Nottingham Forest, and this has sparked renewed interest from Leeds, who are reportedly joined by several other top-flight clubs also interested in signing him.

With the interest in January from Leeds for O’Brien, Robinson spoke to MOT Leeds News and highlighted that despite the change of manager since their initial enquiries, Leeds may still be keen on signing him.

Robinson said: “He’s a top player and Leeds were obviously interested before.

“He’s probably on Victor Orta’s list to be recruited because regardless of who the manager is, the link between the player and the club doesn’t go away.

“There’ll be a list of clubs looking for a Lewis O’Brien – Leeds won’t be the only ones.”

If Huddersfield gained promotion to the Premier League, O’Brien could perhaps have stayed at the club or at least demanded a hefty fee, but with them remaining in the Championship next term, this gives Leeds a far better chance at signing him.
