Sky Sports man calls for GVB to give star 'much more game time' at Rangers

Journalist Joshua Barrie has praised Rangers youngster Alex Lowry for his performance against Hearts which saw the 18-year-old bag a goal in the first half as Rangers eased to a 3-1 victory.

Rangers have enjoyed a good season under new manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst as they look to rebuild the squad in the Dutchman’s image, using academy players and some new signings to bolster the squad and take the Gers into a new era.

While they have seen the likes of Leon King, Cole McKinnon, Charlie McCann, and Ross McCausland join the squad over the season and impress, there has been one academy player who has stood out in recent weeks and looks certain of a positive future with the Glasgow team.

That young man is forward Lowry who came up through the ranks at Rangers and made his professional debut in January 2022 against Stirling Albion in the Scottish Cup in which he scored the opening goal of the game.

He has gone on to impress since this game with his most recent performance against Hearts seeing him bag a goal and resulting in more game time next season being discussed.

Journalist Barrie echoed this sentiment on Twitter during the game, stating: “Lowry doing Lowry things so far. Has to be given much more game time next season”.

While it has been a good season for Rangers, they have slipped behind their bitter rivals, Celtic, and will need a vast improvement if they are to challenge for the SPL title next season.

We have seen they can attract star talent in the transfer window as shown by picking up Aaron Ramsey from Juventus in the January transfer window, but growing talented homegrown players can be such a boost for the team and for the fans. This is why developing a player like Lowry is going to
