Six-time All-Ireland winner Orla Finn announces inter-county retirement
Cork's six-time All-Ireland winner Orla Finn has announced her inter-county football retirement.
The 30-year-old Kinsale forward said it was a "difficult decision" to call it a day, telling the Southern Star that departing the pitch after Cork's loss to Mayo in last year's All-Ireland quarter-final, she felt it was "probably the last time I'd be wearing a Cork jersey."
Finn made her inter-county debut in 2011, winning six All-Ireland titles in her first six years as a Cork player.
She picked up All-Star awards in 2016 and 2019 and also collected six Division 1 league titles.
"It was a difficult decision too, though, and I gave it my all for the 12 years," Finn told the Southern Star podcast. "It will be such a change of lifestyle for me going forward, but I think I am ready to move on."
