Six men deny murder after man dies following Northern Quarter incident

Six men deny murder after a man died following an incident in the Northern Quarter. Two men were found with serious injuries in Dale Street in Manchester city centre at about 6.30pm on August 16 last year.

One of the pair, 33-year-old Ahmed Alsharan, died from his injuries about seven weeks later, on October 9, Greater Manchester Police said previously. Six men were then charged with murder and attempted murder.

Fares Hassan, 22, of Ribston Street, Hulme; Mohammed Al-Enizi Hameed, 36, of Brighton Grove, Rusholme; Hussein Muhalhal, 20, of Lower Park Road, Longsight; and Hussein Mouhelhel, 22, of Wynnstay Grove, Fallowfield; and two 16-year-old boys, who cannot be named for legal reasons, all deny both charges. They are due to go on trial next month.

The case was heard at Manchester Crown Court on Friday morning for a pre-trial hearing before trial judge Mr Justice Pepperall. The judge adjourned the case until the trial, which is set to be held at Minshull Street Crown Court.

GMP previously said: “Officers were called to Dale Street at approximately 6.30pm on Wednesday 16 August 2023, in which two men sustained serious injuries. One of the men sadly passed away in hospital from his injuries on Monday 9 October 2023.”
