Six campsites near Greater Manchester you can book for this weekend

As Greater Manchester continues to bask in a heatwave, one way to make the most of the glorious weather is by packing up the car and heading out on a camping trip. According to the Met Office we’re set for another warm weekend so it’s the perfect time to spend a night or two in the great outdoors.

We’re spoilt for choice when it comes to scenic camping locations nearby. Whether it’s mountain views you’re after or a campsite close to the seaside, there’s somewhere for everyone.

There’s still plenty of availability at campsites near Greater Manchester if you are planning a spontaneous camping trip this weekend. We’ve rounded up some of the best ones below which still have pitches you can book.

If you’re looking for waterside views then Crossgate Farm Campsite has just that. It overlooks Arnfield Reservoir, near Hadfield on the edge of the Peak District.

Located on a working farm, it’s dog-friendly and has plenty of grass tent pitches available. Guests on the campsite have direct access to the Trans Pennine Trail, the Pennine Bridleway and Pennine Cycleway Route 68 from the site, while the Longdendale Trail is also nearby. Situated a mile from Sedbergh in Cumbria, this campsite is handily located for those who want explore either the Yorkshire Dales or the Lake District. Expect gorgeous views of the nearby fells and miles of dry stone walls.
