Sittingbourne manager Reece Prestedge happy with new-look squad as Isthmian South East kick-off looms

Reece Prestedge likes the look of his Sittingbourne squad with the new season just over a week away.

The Brickies host Brentwood Town in their final friendly at Woodstock this Saturday (3pm) before opening the Isthmian South East campaign at AFC Croydon on August 8.

Boss Prestedge added brothers Reiss and Jordan Greenidge to the Brickies ranks last week, the pair offering options in defence and attack respectively, and there could be one final signing to follow.

Either way, Prestedge is pleased with the squad he’s assembled after losing the likes of Ben Swift, Jack Steventon and Mitchell May over the summer.

“We’re still in discussions with one player,” said Prestedge. “He’s been in with us, at training and in games. It’s more a case of if we can sort something out.

“Other than that, we’re completely done.

“The Greenidge brothers helped and pushed us into that bracket of being happy as well.

“As a squad, we’re looking good. We’ve got competition all round, which helps, and you need that because each game is different, so we can go with different personnel.”

The Greenidges, who started last season together at Slough, have played all their football at higher levels.

Reiss, 30, was at Bolton when they won promotion from League 2 and he helped Maidstone reach the FA Cup fifth round two years ago, as well as earning international honours with Guyana.

Jordan, 26, whose career includes spells in Cyprus and Spain, showed his goalscoring prowess during a prolific spell at Tonbridge a few seasons ago.

“They’re good additions,” said Prestedge. “They help with the size of the team as well (Reiss is 6ft6in and Jordan 6ft4in). It’s just a case of getting them up to speed now but they’re not far off at all.
