Sittingbourne manager Nick Davis gearing up for back-to-back Swale derbies

Sittingbourne play two of their biggest games of the season in the space of three days over the bank holiday weekend.

A pair of Swale derbies await, with the Brickies hosting Faversham on Saturday before visiting Sheppey on Monday (both 3pm).

Bourne, beaten 1-0 by Fisher in an FA Cup preliminary round replay on Tuesday night, are looking for their first win in Isthmian South East after taking one point from their opening two league games.

Two intense derbies with little recovery time will test the squad but manager Nick Davis is up for the challenge.

The Faversham game will see summer signings Harry Harding, Donvieve Jones and Lewis Chambers face their former club.

“It’s good, you want to play in these games,” said Davis, whose side drew 0-0 at home to Ramsgate on Tuesday last week.

“It’s not easy playing two games so close together but I suppose it’s the same for everyone else.

“For us, it’s just a case of trying to manage the small squad we’ve gone with but we’re looking forward to it.

“There are so many Kent teams in the league.

“You want to win your derbies and get the local bragging rights but, to be honest, I just want to win a game of football, I don’t care who it’s against.”

Davis has had spells as assistant manager at both Sheppey and, more recently, Faversham.
