Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Glazers have already had disagreement over target for Man Utd job

The Glazers and Sir Jim Ratcliffe are in discussions over who should take the reins as Manchester United's next manager, and they've not seen eye to eye so far.

Regardless of the outcome of Saturday's FA Cup final against Premier League champions Manchester City, Erik ten Hag now looks set to be shown the door. Ratcliffe is keen to bring in his own choice to lead his would-be new-look United project.

Ratcliffe has long admired Potter, who has been without a job since his departure from Chelsea towards the end of last season, and is thought to have advocated for him to succeed Ten Hag this summer. However, United's American owners outright dismissed the suggestion, reports the Mirror.

During the 2021/22 season, following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's exit, Potter was linked with the United position. According to The Athletic, the Glazers, who were overseeing the managerial hunt at the time, were not convinced by the then-Brighton manager's credentials.

This is despite the fact the Seagulls were having their best-ever (at the time) Premier League campaign under Potter, which saw them finish in ninth place, with the English manager being praised for his tactical prowess and ability to enhance a squad without excessive spending.

He joined Chelsea in the early stages of the 2022/23
