This weekend, many people in the UK will wake up to find their car windscreens coated in ice, and will likely reach for the hot kettle or makeshift scraper. But fear not, as less time could be spent scraping away the frost thanks to a handy tip from a driving expert.

Driving Test Success, known as the top provider for Theory Test revision resources in the UK, previously posted a TikTok video (@drivingtestsuccess) explaining how drivers can defrost their windscreen from within the comfort of their car.

In their instructional clip, Driving Test Success shared: "Frozen windscreen? Put the temperature on high.

"Put the front windscreen fan on max. The ice will start to melt from the heat. Wipe away excess water and return the fan to normal.", reports the Mirror.

For some seasoned motorists, this hack may seem like common knowledge, yet for others on social media, it was nothing short of a revelation. Amidst the comments, one surprised user exclaimed: "Wow, magic! The ice is gone."

Another satisfied TikTok user said: "I've learned so much thanks to your app!"

However, not everyone was convinced by the de-icing suggestion, with another stating dismissively: "Wastes more fuel. Just get [out] and scrape it off you lazy so and so."

It's worth noting Driving Test Success isn't the only source of this handy tip; another instructional video by Clear View Driving also recommended using the demister before setting off. They advised: "Now don't use your windscreen wipers or washers as that won't help. Turn on your front and rear demister."
