Simon Jordan slaughters Rangers board for 'small minded' mentality as he names the man who can 'wake them up'

Simon Jordan reckons Rangers need a wake-up call from the 'small-mindedness' that has mired them in another crisis. And he believes Graeme Souness might be the man to deliver it.

Rangers find themselves chasing a new manager yet again, less than 12 months on from Gio van Bronckhorst's departure. They wielded the axe on Michael Beale after three defeats in seven league games with Aberdeen's 3-1 win at Ibrox the final straw.

Steven Davis and Alex Rae are in post for the meantime to steady the ship but Jordan believes they need a "significant manager" to really get them going. Speaking on talkSPORT, the former Crystal Palace owner ripped into the Ibrox board for "living on former glories" and accused them of not thinking about the big picture when making big decisions. He said: “Rangers need a very significant manager in the dugout to help them bridge the gap between them and Celtic and lead the football club.

“I don’t see why they can't get one. Celtic are producing the same sort of financial outcomes as Rangers yet their team is far better on the pitch. Why is that? I suspect because their boardroom is better. With respect, look at some of the nonsense we’ve seen from Rangers.

"We’ve sat in the boardroom when they played away to Celtic and the silly arguments about which sponsor is going to go in front of the shirt. It’s that sort of small mindedness that made me think ‘this is not a club that is being led from the front’ and it’s a club running alongside itself and living on former glories.”
