Simon Jordan slams Leicester City transfer in brutal Manchester United swipe

Leicester City would have "laughed all the way to the bank" when they sold Harry Maguire to Manchester United for £80m according to talkSPORT pundit Simon Jordan.

Maguire became the most expensive transfer for a defender in 2019 when he swapped the King Power Stadium for Old Trafford in 2019. It was a deal which out-priced Virgil van Dijk's £76m move from Southampton to Liverpool in January 2018.

The former Foxes skipper has endured a difficult season at United this year, however, and was even cheered off the pitch when substituted by manager Ralph Rangnick during their Champions League exit at the hands of Atletico Madrid. And according to Jordan, Maguire does not compare closely to the likes of van Dijk or former Premier League legends such as Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic and John Terry.

Speaking on One-To-One with Simon Jordan, the talkSPORT host said Leicester "must’ve been laughing all the way to the bank and sent him there in a cab" for the £80m valuation.

He said: "He’s a decent centre-back, but he isn’t anywhere near the level of centre-backs that have gone in the past. If you look at him and you look at people like Ferdinand, Vidic, Terry – if you think Maguire is in the same breath, then there’s something wrong with your eyesight, because he’s not.
