Simon Jordan insists Rangers 'got the hump' with Celtic celebrations as he floats theory behind away fan lockout

Simon Jordan has claimed that Rangers banned Celtic fans from Ibrox after they "got the hump" with the visiting players post-match celebrations.

Both clubs have cited safety concerns as the reason for cutting the number of supporters allowed inside Ibrox or Celtic Park on derby day from 800 to zero. Captain James Tavernier will lead Rangers out in Glasgow's east end on April 8 with a cauldron of Celtic fans set to welcome Michael Beale's side in the first fixture since the revamped allocation was put in place.

That will be the first of two derby clashes in the Scottish Premiership that will but the lockout in place - with the second taking place after the league split - with no return for away fans expected when the league restarts next term as it stands. And former Crystal Palace owner Jordan has pit the blame on the Ibrox side for the ban on visiting supports during the blockbuster clash.

While discussing Liverpool's away allocation for the clash with Manchester City had been cut with Jim White, the host pointed out the similarities with the lockout in Glasgow: Jordan told talkSPORT: "And that's a tragedy.

"We were up there 18 months ago and the sentiment, I was being led to believe, was that Celtic players were celebrating so many times at Ibrox that Rangers got the hump with it. Or the other way round it might've been, might've been Rangers celebrating so many times at Celtic. No, it would've been Celtic wouldn't it?"
