Simon Jordan asks outraged Rangers fans if they’d rather a Philippe Clement 'Braveheart battlecry' over straight talking
Simon Jordan has asked unrealistic Rangers fans what they expect as he responded to their rage over their manager's 'different league' financial comparison to Tottenham and Celtic.
Gers face Ange Postecoglou's Spurs at Ibrox on Thursday in a Europa League battle of Britain before going straight into a Premier Sports Cup Final showdown with Celtic at Hampden on Sunday. Following the Light Blues' 3-0 win over Ross County on Sunday, Clement was keen to stress that the English premier League club and even their city rivals were operating at a different level from his club when it comes to cash.
That, or at least the admission that they can't match Celtic's spending power did not go down well with his own punters and especially pundit James McFadden, who urged the Rangers boss to stop making excuses. But talkSPORT co-host Jordan has backed the Belgian for dealing in realties rather than playing to gallery with meaningless soundbites.
“It’s a statement of fact, certainly with Tottenham. Tottenham’s turnover is £350m quid – Rangers’ is what, £80m?" he said. "So of course it’s comparable to make that kind of observation. What do you want, someone to issue some Braveheart battle cry?”
Clement had said: "It's totally different kind of games. Maybe we need to say financially out of our league, the two games but we're going compete in that way. It's a really nice challenge for for our squad to show themselves in these games and what we can do against those teams."
