Should schoolchildren have to wear blazers in summer?

Last week saw more blistering heat in Manchester as temperatures once again hit the high 20s, with people across the city enjoying the bright and sunny weather.

But the heat wasn't ideal for everyone, with a mum calling out her daughter's high school for making pupils wear blazers during those high temperatures.

The mum labelled the policy out as 'outrageous', and we want to hear what your thoughts on the issue are.

Some readers have already commented sharing similar stories, with one saying: "My daughters school in Walkden is the same. It's so unfair. There's also been a lot on social media about kids coming home dehydrated, feeling ill and dizzy.

"It's not fair in such extreme temperatures. There needs to be some changes made to certain rules."

Others expressed their views on the policy, saying: "The people running these schools have lost their tiny minds! When I went to school head teachers and teachers had common sense! That seems to be lacking these days!"

Another added: "The more I see policies like this, the more I think that they are designed to break children so they can be better controlled."

One other reader voiced their concerns, saying: "What good does making children hot and uncomfortable do for the world? That some schools don't have sensible uniform policies speaks volumes about the priorities of the school leadership."
