Should bikes be allowed on trams?

Earlier this month, the issue of allowing bikes on trams was raised after a response from the Greater Manchester Mayor's office indicated that it was something that was off the table.

The reply cited costs that would rule out a trial, but this was later confirmed by Andy Burnham's office as having been sent in error and that he remains committed to his manifesto pledge of a trial for bikes on trams.

After this latest correspondence, we want to know whether you think bikes should be allowed on trams or not.

Despite trials having been implemented in Edinburgh leading to bikes now being allowed on trams in the Scottish capital, some of our readers were unhappy with the proposal.

One person commented: "The trams were overcrowded enough as it was before the pandemic and almost certainly will be once things are fully back to normal."

Another added: "Seriously it's hard enough for disabled people to travel on trams and parents with prams as the spaces for these are always occupied getting off when busy is difficult enough can't even imagine the chaos with bikes on there."
