Should Aiden Markram be dropped for 2nd Test? Have your say

The Proteas head into the second Test against New Zealand in Christchurch on Friday desperate to put things right after being thrashed in the series opener, and there is a selection cloud hovering over batsman Aiden Markram

The 27-year-old, long considered one of the Proteas' brightest potential world-beating prospects at the top of the order, has endured a nightmare run in national Test colours.

He was moved down to No 3 for the first Test against the Black Caps, but scores of 15 and 2 saw his struggles continue.

Markram was also short of runs in the India Tests series, where the Proteas won 2-1 on home soil, where he carded scores of 13, 1, 7, 31, 8 and 16.

In his last 10 Test innings, Markram averages under 10 while he averages just 25 over his last 20 Test matches.

Those numbers will never be good enough for a player who has been accompanied by so much expectation, but what should the Proteas do?

Should Markram be dropped for the second Test?

If that is the case, then his likely replacement will be the uncapped Ryan Rickelton, and while that call-up would certainly be deserved, it would leave an already green Proteas side even more inexperienced.

Would you drop Markram, or do you think he should be backed and that a return to form is just around the corner?
