Shock for Dublin as Cluxton starts in Croke Park
Dublin senior football manager Dessie Farrell pulled a surprise selection decision for his side's Leinster semi-final against Kildare at Croke Park by handing veteran goalkeeper Stephen Cluxton a starting place.
It's the first time Cluxton has lined out for the Dubs since the 2020 All-Ireland final, when he captained them to a historic six in a row All-Ireland.
David O'Hanlon dropped to the bench as Cluxton made his 110th championship appearance.
Cluxton made a sensational return to the Dublin set-up after being named on the bench their win over Louth in Croke Park last month.
The goalkeeper did not formally announce his retirement from his county, but was widely expected to have stepped away after winning the last of his Celtic Crosses under Farrell.
