Shelbourne forward Jack Moylan signs pre-contract with Lincoln City

Shelbourne will lose one of their main attacking threats at the end of the season after Lincoln City confirmed they have acquired Jack Moylan on a pre-contract agreement to begin in January.

Moylan has been on the top performers for Shels this season as they push for Europe in the remaining seven league games, currently sitting in fifth position, four points off third place.

The former Bohemians man has scored eight goals in 24 appearances this campaign, building on an impressive breakthrough year which saw him strike seven times across 17 appearances in 2022.

Outside of goals his general play has caught the eye of several clubs, with the 22-year-old close to departing for a transfer fee in the summer.

Shels were keen to retain a key player for the run-in and will receive compensation for the exit.

In a statement, the north Dublin side said: "The club recognises the positive contribution Jack has made since signing in November 2021 and we were eager for Jack to stay with us, but he has made the decision to continue his career with Lincoln City FC in England, competing in League One once his contract expires in November 2023.

"We fully respect Jack's decision. He will remain an important part of our squad for the remaining games and is fully committed to giving his best on the pitch for the Reds as we enter a pivotal stage of the season."

City have a host of Irish players on their books including former League of Ireland player Danny Mandriou, Dylan Duffy and Sean Roughan.
