Sheffield Wednesday's transfer business suggests Dejphon Chansiri has learnt from past mistakes

There has been no scattergun approach to Sheffield Wednesday's summer transfer business. Darren Moore and the recruitment team have brought in players to strengthen areas of the team that needed to be addressed following the club's latest play-off heartache.

The club moved quickly to bolster the first team squad as soon as the window opened in June. Discussions had already taken place with several potential transfer targets.

Midfielder Tyreeq Bakinson is the latest player to have joined Darren Moore's revolution. The 23-year-old is their eighth summer recruit.

Moore told Yorkshire Live: "We have to keep progressing forward as a team and a football club. When I look back at last year to where we are this year, we have moved forward.

"But we don't sit back on it. There is still work that needs to be done. I am delighted to have made the signings that we have made thus far and it has been great to integrate them into the squad.

"They will give a different dimension to the team. It is still the same philosophy and the same dynamic but, when I think of one or two players, they will give us something different to how we approach games."

Seven of their eight new additions took part in the club's pre-season training camp in Portugal last week. Seven of their eight new additions are permanent signings.

Not only have Wednesday completed the bulk of their transfer business early doors, but no longer are the club relying on loan players to prop up the numbers in the squad. Things certainly seem to be heading in the right direction.

"I said at the end of last season that the recruitment side was already under way," admitted Moore. "I stayed on in the summer and I am glad I did stay on and continue to work at Middlewood Road.
