Sheffield Wednesday's third pre-season friendly confirmed as Owls to face Wigan Athletic

Sheffield Wednesday have today added another friendly to their pre-season schedule. The Owls, beaten by Sunderland in the League One play-offs last season, will travel to face Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium on Saturday 23 July, kick-off 3pm.

Wigan are the third warm-up fixture Wednesday have confirmed this month. They will also travel to non league Alfreton Town and League Two side Harrogate Town as part of their preparations for the 2022/23 season.

Sheffield Wednesday pre-season plans take shape as Owls announce Portugal training camp

After the Harrogate friendly, Darren Moore's troops will jet out to Portugal for a warm-weather training camp. It will be the first time the Owls have travelled overseas for a training camp since the coronavirus pandemic. They will return to these shores on Friday, July 15.

Wednesday face Portsmouth in their League One curtain-raiser on Saturday, July 30.
