Sheffield Wednesday's pre-season plans so far after second friendly announcement

Sheffield Wednesday are set to play Alfeton Town in a pre-season friendly next month. Darren Moore's side will travel to the Impact Arena on Saturday, July 2, kick-off 3pm.

It will be the second year in a row the Owls have faced the non league side in a warm-up fixture. They edged a hard-fought contest in 2021 after late goal from Andre Green.

It is the second first-team friendly Wednesday have announced this month. They will also make their first-ever visit to the EnviroVent Stadium to take on Harrogate Town on Friday, July 8, kick-off 7:00pm. The Owls thumped the League Two side 4-0 in the Papa John's Trophy last season.

After the Harrogate friendly, Wednesday will fly out to Portugal for a warm-weather training camp. It will be the first time the Owls have travelled overseas for a training camp since the coronavirus pandemic. They will return to these shores on Friday, July 15.

Wednesday, who reached the League One play-off semi-finals before losing to eventual winners Sunderland over two legs last season, are scheduled to begin pre-season training on June 20. Fixtures for the forthcoming campaign are to be released on Thursday, June 23.
