Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri reveals Hillsborough Stadium improvement plans

Work is well under way on stadium improvements at Sheffield Wednesday's Hillsborough home. Chairman Dejphon Chansiri has confirmed new pitches will be relaid at the stadium and the club's Middlewood Road training ground this summer.

Chansiri says new floodlights are also to be installed at Hillsborough ahead of the new League One campaign. "After the season we do a lot of maintenance on the stadium, we do that every year," he told the media. "After the season is the main time we get to do that.

"We will have new pitches at the stadium and training ground and for next season I can tell you that we’re going to have new floodlights at the stadium which will be a big improvement.

"Within the season we do what we can, for example a significant amount of investment has been made this season into new ticketing and tilling systems which helps us run far more efficiently as a club. This has also made the experience for the fans better. We do what we can when we can."

In an interview with the club's YouTube channel last week, manager Darren Moore said the players will report back in for pre-season training on June 20. He said: "They’ll have six weeks to get their bodies into the condition we need them to be in for the start of the new campaign.

"By the time they get back in and report back the surfaces will be ready, and we’ll be good to go. The main thing for pre-season is that the players return back, have a good six weeks, come through unscathed, get fit physically and mentally, and then we get ready for the new campaign.”

The 2022/23 season is scheduled to kick off the weekend of July 30.
