Sheffield Wednesday man makes admission over transfer

Sheffield Wednesday striker Saido Berahino has told Yorkshire Live that he is finally starting to feel comfortable at the club after notching up his first goal for the Owls at the weekend.

The 28-year-old had previously struggled to create much in the way of chances for himself at Hillsborough this season but is now off the mark after scoring in the Yorkshire derby win over Doncaster Rovers on Saturday.

Berahino has found it tough to secure regualr game time with the Steel City side since his arrival at the club last summer and was arguably running out of time to prove himself until he scored a well taken strike two days ago.

Now the striker has admitted that he finally feels settled with the Owls after a tough start to his career in the north:

“I am starting to feel comfortable now. One hundred per cent.

“Confidence wise as a striker you want to be in the box getting goals. I thought I took my goal well. As any striker will tell you when you hit the back of the net, that’s when you are happiest.”

The striker previously plied his trade in the Premier League and EFL for both West Bromwich Albion and Stoke City over the years before moving out to Belgium.

He has a contract at Hillsborough that is due to expire at the end of the current season.

The Verdict

This could be the moment that helps to kickstart Berahino’s Wednesday career after what has been a very slow start for him in the Steel City.

He is clearly a confidence player and this could be exactly what he needs right now.

People may have expected him to be just like the youngster who broke through at West Brom all those years ago, however he is at a very different stage of his career now.

Only time will tell if he can now kick on and start to score goals again
