Sheffield United star sends warning to 'best in the world' Man City ahead of FA Cup clash

Sheffield United striker Oli McBurnie has warned Manchester City that the Blades will make things as difficult as possible when the two sides meet in the FA Cup semi-finals.

Pep Guardiola's side progressed to the next round of the competition after thrashing Burnley 6-0 at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday evening. Erling Haaland scored a hat-trick for the home side, with Julian Alvarez (2) and Cole Palmer also getting on the scoresheet for the Blues.

The Blades, meanwhile, booked their place in the last four of the FA Cup by beating Blackburn Rovers at Bramall Lane on Sunday, with Tommy Doyle - who is on loan from City - scoring an injury-time screamer to secure a 3-2 victory over their Championship rivals.

While City loanees Doyle and James McAtee will be unavailable to play against their parent club at Wembley, United forward McBurnie has insisted that Paul Heckingbottom's side will do everything possible to progress to the final.

"It’ll be a good day out, I’m sure," the striker said. "It’s a tough game, obviously; playing the best team in the world, in my opinion. I really think that. It’ll be good. We’ve played them a few times a couple of years ago [in the Premier League] and we were always in the game and made it interesting. It’ll be a great day out for the fans, and we’ll be there to make it as tough for City as possible."

City have won all of their last four matches against United, with their last defeat to the Blades coming in the FA Cup back in January 2008. The Blues will be favourites to progress to the final when the two sides meet at Wembley on April 22.
