Sheffield United's historic Bramall Lane chosen to host England vs Germany international clash

Sheffield United are set to host yet more international football this year. The club's historic Bramall Lane home ground is not only gearing up for next month’s UEFA Women’s Euros, but it will also stage the upcoming men’s under 21 showdown with Germany.

The game gets under way on Tuesday, September 27, at 7.45pm. The Young Lions have already secured their place at the 2023 under 21 EUROS in Romania and Georgia next summer, and the date with the Germans, alongside an away fixture to Italy on Thursday, September 22, will form a key part in their preparation.

Under 21 head coach Lee Carsley, a former Sheffield United assistant manager, said: “England-Germany is always a fixture to look forward to for any of our age groups and to be playing this latest chapter at a venue as historic as Bramall Lane will make this one all the more special.

“After a successful qualification campaign, it’s now time for us to get ready for an exciting summer in 2023 and there is no better preparation than fixtures against Italy and Germany.”

United have played a key role in the under 21s over the last year with the likes of Rhian Brewster and Morgan Gibbs-White representing the Three Lions whilst also starring for the Blades.

Bramall Lane last hosted the under 21s in March 2018 - a 2-1 2019 EURO qualifying victory over Ukraine.
