United's better midfielder, alive to the danger in the second half to prevent Joao a sight of goal inside his own area and never stopped moving as he tried to find space and get United on the front foot.

In a holding role with Norwood but the backline needed more protection. Reading constantly looked a threat running through the middle of the park on the counter.

Struggled and far from his best. Tom Ince had far too much time and space down Reading's right and was among their most dangerous players.

As always tried to be the creative outlet and provide United with that attacking platform but for all his effort and endeavour, he couldn't provide the spark.
